29 September 2020
As September 2020 draws to a close I sit here just feeling sad…
Sad that I am allowed…
…to drive 20 miles to work each day for an an exhausting 9 hour shift
… to find the time to deliver every lesson on my timetable twice, once for those in the classroom then again for those in quarantine at home
… to lose sleep worrying about my own teens, sinking under a mountain of online work without the face to face support of their teachers and peers
… to pray for lovely, brave colleagues who have fallen seriously ill, working daily in a covid zone without the backup of an adequate testing system
But, under threat of fines and judgement and scorn, not allowed, as of midnight tonight, to drive to Newcastle at half term to meet my lovely daughter for even one cup of coffee in a cafe.
